CMO says 117th COVID patient recovering/showed mild symptoms

The Chief Medical Officer Dr. Roshan Parasram says the 117th COVID infection is recovering, and showed mild symptoms of the virus when tested.

Dr. Parasram yesterday said the patient is now in a convalescent stage of the infection and she is being housed at the Home of Football in Couva.

The patient returned home via Air Ambulance last Thursday afternoon

Two relatives who travelled with the patient tested negative.

Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh said yesterday the flight came from Houston, Texas.

And the Health Minister is pleased that the country is at a stage where it can relax some of the stringent measures aimed at treating with the pandemic.

However, Minister Deyalsingh is warning against complacency.

Speaking at the COVID news conference yesterday Minister Deyalsingh also made it clear that only a limited number of persons will be allowed at funerals.

The coronavirus has claimed 8 lives in Trinidad and Tobago.

Data from Johns Hopkins University says Latin America ‘s death toll has exceeded 50,000 with some one million cases reported across the region.

The report also says more than 6.18 million coronavirus cases have been confirmed around the world with nearly 372,000 deaths and 2.64 million recoveries globally.
