Chairman of the United National Congress Dr. David Lee is lamenting the country’s crime situation saying it is officially out of control. In a statement Dr. Lee says the situation has gotten worse over the last seven months.
Dr. Lee says on average 1.3 murders occur per day. He says this poses a great danger to the welfare of citizens, as they no longer feel safe to undertake their daily activities. Dr. Lee notes that people feel disrespected and devalued as government has demonstrated its lack of political will to institute strategic plans to address the grave situation.
In addition, the UNC chairman says government has given the assurance of a change in the situation yet the population has been asked by the protective services to brace for an increase in murders. Dr. Lee says it is ironic that National Security Minister Edmund Dillon does not believe there has been a spike in crime.
