The government hails as progressive the decriminlisation of cannabis.

This as debate began in the Senate today on the Cannabis Control Bill 2020.

Opening the debate was newly minted Attorney General Reinald Armour.

He would say the move is aimed at development.

The Senior Counsel told the Upper House of the expertise that would form the governing authority.

But the government is told it must have a role in the industry if the small farmers are to survive.

The attorney also had concerns about addiction and rehabilitation.

Mrs. Lutchmedial said it would be a long time before the benefits of the sector would be seen.
