Burnt body found in Freeport

body foundA burnt body is found in a forested area in Freeport under a pile of tyres. Officers of the Homcide Bureau (South), Freeport CID, and Central Division Task Force responded and went to an area off LaSolita Road, Chickland.

Reports say around 11.15 a.m. yesterday a resident stumbled upon the charred remains.

The police were then contacted. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the body was burnt beyond recognition and there were mainly skeletal remains underneath the debris.

The remains were viewed by a district medical officer and removed to the Forensic Science Centre, St James.

Police suspect the body may be linked to two separate reports of missing persons from the Couva and Las Lomas areas.
