The body of a man found in a car in Caroni is identified as Rajesh Rooplal. Police are said to be treating the death as a suicide.
The 34-year-old restaurant supervisor was found inside the vehicle near the Caroni Bird Sanctuary this morning, by officers attached to the Highway Patrol Division at around 4.30.
Police say Mr. Rooplal was found frothing from the mouth and a poisonous substance was discovered inside the vehicle. He lived at Gordon Village, Tortuga.
Officers say they observed a red Mitsubishi van parked off the roadway and went to investigate. They then found Mr Rooplal slumped in the driver’s seat.
Police believe he went to the area and committed suicide, as there were no visible marks of violence on his body.
Mr. Rooplal worked at a popular restaurant in Chaguanas.
His body was removed to the forensic science centre in St James, where an autopsy would be performed.
Investigations are continuing.
