Archbishop Jason Gordon’s comment on the hijab issue is not getting support from radio talk show host Kwesi Atiba.
The Archbishop last week responded to the incident at the Lakshmi Girls Hindu College where an On the Job Trainee teacher was told she could not wear her hijab while on the compound.
But the Panchayat Programme on i95.5fm yesterday morning, Mr. Atiba described the statement as unfortunate.
Mr. Atiba also noted that the Concordat of 1960 remains valid.
Mr. Atiba said in his view there should be no argument regarding a teacher’s religious beliefs or background given they are there to teach.
OJT, Nafisa Nakhid sees the Maha Sabha’s position as discriminatory and there is talk of taking the matter to court.
