The Calypso community is again plunged into mourning.

Vet­er­an Ca­lyp­son­ian Lord Su­pe­ri­or, whose real name is An­drew Marcarno died on Sat­ur­day in New York.

Su­pe­ri­or, who has been bat­tling ill­ness for some­time, has been at New York’s Mt. Sinai Hos­pi­tal for the past cou­ple months.

Superior is the third ca­lyp­so great to have died in re­cent months, fol­lowing The Mighty Shad­ow and De Fos­to.

Before them, pan arranger, Ken Professor Philmore also died following a vehicular accident in September.

Among Lord Superior’s pop­u­lar ca­lyp­soes are “San Fer­nan­do Car­ni­val” and “I Want To Be A Pan­man”.
