A LOCAL RECORDING ARTISTE SLAPPED WITH CHARGES RELATING TO GANG MEMBERSHIP.

Police have charged a local recording artiste with being a member of a gang, and also professing to be a gang member.

The police say, Joseph Ollivierre, popularly known as “Medz Boss” appeared in court on Monday, and was granted tt$40,000 dollars bail.

According to the TTPS, the charges against the artiste followed an extensive probe by the gang enforcement team that focused primarily on, social media videos promoting gang violence and gang culture.

Medz boss was arrested on Thursday last week, after a warrant had been executed at his residence.

He will re-appear in court on march 15th this year.

Police commissioner Erla Harewood-Christopher yesterday said, the case underscores the unwavering commitment of the TTPS, to address and combat the promotion of gang related activities, particularly through influential figures in the entertainment industry.

She described the lure of gangs and their culture as pervasive, and a direct pathway to poverty, prisons and an early grave and those young men are mere pawns who are easily replaced.
