The body of the man found floating in the water off Para-Grand Bay, in Paramin Maraval has been identified as Shawndell Gourdon.

His decomposing body was identified by his mother yesterday shortly after it was retrieved from the waters.

It is reported Mr. Gourdon was reported missing some time last week.

His body was discovered by a fisherman in the area on Wednesday morning.

Yesterday a team of police and coastguardsmen assisted in retrieving the body from the waters.

Investigators say the corpse was in an advanced state of decomposition.

Mr. Gourdon was reportedly identified by his mother based on the clothes he was wearing.

An autopsy is expected to be performed on the body today.
