Carnage on the nation’s roads as a female and two males lose their lives over the weekend. Dead are Gillian Amallo-St Bernard, Ali Accallo, and Wayne Brown. On Saturday night Mrs. Amallo-St Bernard and Mr. Accallo died in the same crash.
According to police reports Mrs. Amallo-St Bernard was driviing on the northbound lane of the Uriah Butler Highway at around 7:30 pm when she lost control of her vehicle near the Munroe Road flyover.
Reports say the 30-year-old woman’s vehicle hit the median, and subsequently went airborne. Her vehicle landed on top of a car driven by Ali Acallo in the southbound lane. Both drivers sustained severe injuries and died at the scene.
Fire officers had to use the Jaws of Life to remove Mrs. Amallo St Bernard and 23-year-old Mr. Acallo from the wreck. Rohan Rooplal, 18, who was seated in the front passenger seat of Mr. Acallo’s car, received lacerations to his face. Mr. Acallo’s father told reporters his son was on his way to meet his girlfriend at Price Plaza.
