A 44-year-old unemployed man is facing 7 counts of sexual penetration of a child and 1 count of attempted suffocation.
The man was arrested by officers of the Northeastern Division Child Protection Unit during an exercise was spearheaded by (AG) W/Supt George, ASP Nowbutt and supervised by Inspector Davidson.
A release from the TTPS says a 10-year-old girl confided in her aunt and grandmother that she was being repeatedly raped.
A report was made to the Child Protection Unit Northeastern Division, and PC Hospedales was detailed to conduct enquiries.
His investigations revealed that during the period March 2019 and September 9th, 2020, the suspect sexually assaulted the girl on numerous occasions and during one encounter he attempted to suffocate her using a pillow. The suspect was arrested and charged for the offences on September 14th.
