A young woman is among the 17 new deaths linked to the corona virus.

The Ministry of Health says they were 3 elderly men, 7 elderly women, 2 middle-aged men, 4 middle-aged women and 1 young adult woman.

The Ministry says 8 of the deceased had multiple comorbidities, 7 of them had 1 comorbidity, while 2 had no known medical condition.

The total number of deaths to date is now 3,119.

The Ministry also says there are 577 new positive cases of the virus.

The country’s active caseload is 15,988.

Meanwhile, one more person in Tobago is dead because of COVID-19.

A release from the division of health wellness and social protection confirms the death.

It means the number of fatalities on the island now sits at 220.

The division said the patient was fully vaccinated.

The division also said it recorded 41 new cases of the virus in the latest update bringing the total active caseload to 1,362.

According to the division there are also 36 patients in hospital.
