15 MILLION FOR SERVICE PROVIDERS IN TOBAGO…

Chief Secretary Farley Augustine

The Tobago House of Assembly has set aside some fifteen million dollars, to commence payment of service providers who are part of, the island’s oil spill response.

The revelation was made by, Chief Secretary Farley Augustine at a news conference yesterday.

Last week the Chief Secretary revealed, that no payment had been made to service providers up to that point.

Mr. Augustine explained how far the THA could go, in seeking redress from the current disaster.

Director of the Tobago Emergency Management Agency, Allan Stewart told the media that hydrocarbon is no longer being emitted, from the stricken vessel.

A hydrographic survey has also been done, in preparation for extraction of the vessel from its current location.

The Chief Secretary also had good news for persons seeking fish, during the current Lenten season.

When asked to comment on a guardian newspaper article over the weekend, which sought to identify the owners of the Gulf Stream, Mr. Augustine said, he would respond in due course.
