It is believed 13-year-old Samantha Harrison committed suicide at her home in Beetham Gardens.

The child was found in her bed at around 7:30 on Tuesday evening.

Her father is said to have found her unconscious in her bedroom.

He had called for her to open the door but got no response.

He subsequently forced the door open and found his daughter motionless on the bed.

The Emergency Health Service was called to the scene and the teenager was taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital where she was declared dead on arrival.

A post mortem was to be conducted on the body yesterday.

But police initially said from all indications Samantha took her life.
