The police killing of forty-one year-old William ‘Boneman’ Rock baffles relatives. Police at Calvary Hill shot him yesterday morning. Police say there was a confrontation and Mr. Rock fired shots at them.
But relatives, including his girlfriend, whom he left at homes minutes before he was killed, say he was a quiet man and was not involved in any criminal activities. His unidentified girlfriend told reporters yesterday she heard the gunshots shortly after Mr. Rock left for work.
Later, on her way out she stumbled upon the scene of the shooting. Mr. Rock was the father of five children. Police say at around 5.40 am, members of the Inter-Agency Task Force were on patrol when Mr. Rock fired them upon.
The officers say they returned fire hitting Mr. Rock in the head. He was taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where he died while being treated. Police say they recovered a .38 revolver with one round of ammunition.
