Parents are being told to closely monitor their children when they are using the internet. The mother of a Trinidad and Tobago ISIS recruit Sean Joel Parsons said she was not aware of his involvement with the terrorist organisation which has now claimed responsibility for the Paris attacks.
The woman yesterday said her son, known until his death as Abu Khalid was recruited online. Calling herself Mrs. Johnson, the woman told listeners to a radio programme on i95.5fm, she learnt of his involvement in ISIS only after his death. She said although she did not agree with her son’s decision to join ISIS, their relationship got better while he was in Syria fighting the cause.
Yesterday, the country’s acting Police Commissioner Stephen Williams said local ISIS fighters can be made to pay for their involvement in the terrorist organisation. There have been growing concerns about the number of Trinidad and Tobago nationals who have joined ISIS and are fighting in the Middle East.
