VALSAYN COUPLE DETAINED IN CONNECTION WITH HUMAN REMAINS UNEARTHED IN THEIR BACKYARD.

A sting operation in El Dorado leads to the detention of a man wanted for questioning, in relation to buried human remains in Valsayn south.

The individual was held at a house at around 9 o’clock last night.

Police say, the man left the Valsayn residence after the remains of Hannah Mathura, were dug up in the back yard.

A tip off from someone inside the home prompted the operation.

Police are also holding a female relative, said to be her 60s.

The man has been taken to the St. Joseph police station. While she is at the Arouca police station.

Reports say, an intense probe is underway and detectives are expected to submit their findings to, director of public prosecutions Roger Gaspard.

Senior superintendent Richard Smith said, homicide investigators had been working around the clock to find the male suspect.

He added that the victim and witness support unit of the TTPS will be utilized, to lend support and counseling to the siblings whose ages range between 17 and 24.

Neighbours have reported hearing screams from the house over the past years, and particularly before Hannah disappeared.

They claim they have made reports to the police.

Police are set to question family members, including children, about Hannah’s death

Her skeletal remains were found in the backyard of a residence on Butu Road Valsayn South on Tuesday.

Seven years after Miss Mathura went missing, her remains were dug from a shallow grave.

Yesterday senior superintendent Richard Smith said, the investigation is at a sensitive stage.

However, he denied claims that minors were found locked up in the house.

On the morning show on i95.5fm yesterday, senior superintendent Smith noted, that the information given to St. Joseph police came after an argument at the house.

The officer described this occurrence as unusual.   

He said, siblings and others were to be questioned.

THE POLICE COMMISSIONER DESCRIBES THE MAYARO QUADRUPLE MURDER AS TROUBLING AND BRAZEN

A troubling and brazen act is how commissioner of police Erla Harewood- Christopher describes, the Mayaro quadruple killing.

Yesterday, the commissioner also referred to reports that the killers impersonated police officers.

The dead men are 59-year-old contractor Buddy George, his son 20-year-old Jeremiah George and 37-year-old Marcus Buddy, and 29-year-old Dion Keyon Mendoza.

Their bodies were found in an agricultural camp at Basil Trace in Bristol Village, shortly after midnight on Sunday.

Buddy George’s two daughters and a one-year-old child were spared.

Police are searching for six men believed to have shot the four.

They were reportedly wearing gear resembling an arm of the police service.

BONES, POSSIBLY BELONGING TO A MISSING GIRL, UNEARTHED FROM THE BACKYARD OF VALSAYN RESIDENCE …

A heated domestic argument triggers the excavation and discovery of human remains.   

The bones are believed to be that of 18 year-old, Hannah Mathura, who was allegedly killed seven years ago and buried in the backyard of the family’s Valsayn home.

Police found human ske­letal remains at the Butu Road house, at around 3pm yesterday.

Reports say, an argument erupted between an elderly man and another family member on Sunday.

Following the war of words, the man, said to be over 60 years old, called the St. Joseph police station.

However, by the time they arrived at the valsayn house, the man had escaped by jumping the wall of the property, and ran through drains in the area.

Report says, he later returned to the house, got in his vehicle and fled for a second time.

He remains at large.

Following up on information of a killing at the premises, Senior Supt. Richard Smith and his officers, embarked on an excavation exercise at around 2pm yesterday.

One hour later the bones of a female believed to be Hannah Mathura, were unearthed.

Nine minors were also discovered at the home.

The children were then placed in the care of officers of the child protection unit.

A search is now on for the owner of the home.

MAURITIUS FELT LIKE HOME…

The similarities between Trinidad and Tobago and Mauritius strike, newly crowned Miss World Caribbean Ache Abrahams.

She says, the warmth of the tiny pacific ocean country is welcoming.

Miss Abrahams is there as part of her prize package for winning, the Miss Caribbean title, at the just concluded 71st edition at the Miss World finals held in Mumbai India.

Miss Abrahams told the Mauritius media she felt at home.

Yesterday, her uncle Corey Selvon said, he owes a ton of gratitude to the entire nation for its support.

Miss Abrahams achievement was publicly acknowledged by, the prime minister yesterday.

Miss Abrahams will accompany the newly crowned Miss World, from the Czech Republic and the other continental titleholders.

POLICE COMMISSIONER CONCERNED ABOUT THE QUADRUPLE MURDERS & REPORTS OF POLICE PARAPHANLIA USED BY KILLERS…

Commissioner of Police Erla Harweood- Christopher says, the shooting deaths of four men in Mayaro are troubling to the nation.

She says, it shows the brazenness of the killers who impersonated police officers.

The dead men are 59 year old contractor Buddy George, his sons 20 year old Jeremiah George and 37 year old Marcus Buddy, and 29 year old Dion Keyon Mendoza.

Their bodies were found in an agricultural camp at basil trace in Bristol Village yesterday, shortly after midnight.

Buddy George’s two daughters and a one-year-old child were spared.

They were reportedly put on a bench while the killed all the men.

It is said, the group usually stays in the camp where they planted crops and raised poultry.

The shootings are said to have been carried out by six men, dressed in what appeared to be police operational gear.

The men are said to have announced they were police officers.

After the shooting the six men fled the scene.

Homicide investigators say four men were killed execution style.

The United National Congress MP for the area, Rushton Paray is shocked and deeply saddened by the incident.

He says, the murders have left the community shaken and devastated.

MP Paray said, yesterday these heinous crimes are shattering the sense of safety and security of all.

AFTER WEEKS OF VIOLENCE & CHAOS…HAITI’S PRIME MINISTER TO RESIGN

Haiti’s Prime Minister Ariel Henry has agreed to resign, following weeks of mounting pressure and increasing violence.

It comes after regional leaders met in Jamaica yesterday, to discuss a political transition in Haiti.

Dr. Henry is currently stranded in Puerto Rico, after being prevented by armed gangs from returning home.

In a video address announcing his resignation, Dr. Henry urged Haitians to remain calm.

Dr. Henry said, the government he leads would resign immediately after the installation of a transition council. 

Chairman of Caricom and Guyana’s president told a press conference, the regional grouping has accepted Mr. Henry decision to step down.

At the end of an emergency meeting in Jamaica yesterday, the U.S. Secretary of State, Antony Blinken announced more money for the deployment of troops in Haiti.

The U.S. is also pledging humanitarian aid to the Haitian people.

Jamaica’s Prime Minister Andrew Holness told a news conference, this time the results on Haiti must work.

He said, Haiti is not at the moment in a good place and the region cannot fail, the Caricom sister nation.

A FIRE AT THE BEETHAM LANDFILL POSES A MAJOR PROBLEM FOR RESIDENTS AND MOTORISTS…

Fence line communities of the Beetham Landfill, are being impacted by smoke emanating from a fire.

This is confirmed by the Trinidad and Tobago Solid Waste Management Company Limited.

Public education administrator at SWMCOL, Jackie Edgar says, an overnight blaze is responsible.

Ms. Edgar explains, that while all is well at the moment, there maybe some short lived residual effects. Last week SWMCOL successfully extinguished a fire, the company said, that the blaze was caused by extremely dry and hot conditions.

23 MILLION DOLLARS PER YEAR TO RENT SPACES FOR ONE MINISTRY IN THE CAPITAL CITY…

Social Development Minister, Donna Cox

Government spends over 23 million dollars per year to rent office space, for the Ministry of Social Development and Family Service.

Minister Donna Cox revealed the figure.

She was speaking at the sod turning ceremony for the consolidation building, for the ministry’s head office in Port of Spain this morning.

Minister Cox said, government stands to save over 14 million per annum, with the new facility.

She said, her ministry serves hundreds of thousands of citizens.

The minister listed the many grants afforded to the needy.

Minister Cox said, the new facility would soon improve the service.

The building is to sit on the corner of, Victoria Avenue and Tragarete Road.

FOUR MEN IN MAYARO ARE MADE TOO LIE ON THE FLOOR AND SHOT TO DEATH…

Homicide investigators are now searching for clues in the execution of four men, in Mayaro.

Police say, 20-year-old Jeremiah George, 29-year-old Dion Keyon Mendoza, 37-year-old Marcus Buddy and 59-year-old Buddy George, were slain while lying face down on the ground.

The men were said to be camping in, a thirty by twenty feet camp.

Earlier today Senior Supt. Ryan Khan, gave this account of the ghastly act. 

The alleged killers remain at large, but News Centre understands an operation has been launched, to find the suspects.

SHOOTING ON CHURCHILL ROOSEVELT HIGHWAY…

An attack on a car, on the Churchill Roosevelt Highway leaves one man dead.

According to police reports, the shooting occurred shortly after midnight last night.  

He has been identified a Richard Mark, also called “Mansion”.

Police reports say, a car pulled along side a wagon bearing number plates PCE 2017.  

The occupants of the arriving vehicle opened fire on the trio, in the white wagon.  

Homicide investigators have confirmed that, Mr. Mark died at the scene.

However, it is not yet clear if the other two persons in the wagon were shot.

Officers say, upon their arrival they only found the deceased.      

A motive for this gun attack remains unknown at this time.
