Salary increases for members of the new Guyana government and there is no apology.

Minister of State Joseph Harmon seeks to justify the increases to government ministers, members of parliament, Speaker of the assembly and office of the Opposition Leader.

Mr. Harmon said yesterday the ministers are professionals and deserve a pay raise.

The minister dismissed media reports that there have been one hundred percent salary increases.

The Prime Minister’s annual salary has moved from 18 point five million Guyana dollars to 20 point five eight million dollars.

For ministers who received 6.85 million dollars, they will now receive 10 point four three million dollars. Junior ministers will now earn eight point three four million dollars annually.
