A murder suicide involving two law enforcement officers has rocked the police service.
According to reports police constable Michael Youksee got into a heated argument with his estranged common-law wife WPC Racquel Kips, at around 10:45 am yesterday.
Residents of Mt. Dor Road, Champs Fleurs later told police they heard multiple gunshots followed by a pause and then a single shot.
The couple’s son was then heard screaming.
Neighbours who ran to the house found WPC Kips and PC Youksee bleeding profusely.
A report was made and police officers arrived in minutes.
WPC Kips was pronounced dead at the scene, while PC Youksee who was said to be still alive, was rushed to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt. Hope.
He died at 2 pm.
A release from the TTPS says the two were found in a bedroom with what appeared to be a bullet wound to their heads.
The statement also says a firearm was found at the scene.
The TTPS further notes that PC Youksee was last attached to the Tunapuna Police Station and his wife at the Senior Supt’s office at Northern Division.
Relatives said the two had recently separated.
The couple’s son is said to be severely traumatised and in the custody of relatives.
