Police confirm they have seized more than two million dollars in high grade marijuana in San Fernando.
Officers believe they may have made a dent in a drug trafficking operation in south Trinidad by the seizure of the marijuana and the arrest of three people.
Officers from San Fernando CID and Southern Division Task Force say they were conducting surveillance on the Turney Street, Mon Repos, home of an alleged 40-year-old drug dealer after learning of suspicious activities taking place.
While staking out the area, the officers say they spotted a heavily tinted black vehicle heading towards the house.
The car was stopped and the 32-year-old PH taxi driver of south Oropouche was held.
Officers say they found approximately 26 kilogrammes of high grade marijuana with an estimated street value of $1.56 million.
Shortly after noon, the officers got a search warrant, stormed the house and found a 44-year-old Claxton Bay plumber, and a female bartender of Mon Repos. Officers say they also found nine kilogrammes of high grade marijuana packaged in several small bags, ready for sale.
The marijuana has an estimated street value of $540,000.
