Two members of the Opposition in the Parliament are accusing Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley and his government of declaring war on the people of Trinidad and Tobago.
At a news conference this morning, Chaguanas east MP, Vandana Mohit, and St. Augustine representative Kadijha Ameen addressed the issue of rising food prices to the weekly news conference.
They say families are suffering and from all indications there are more struggles to come.
Ms. Ameen presented some basic food items, which she said she purchased earlier for a family in need.
According to MP Ameen the costs of these items are steadily increasing and becoming out of the reach for families.
She said many of the food items were freed of Value Added Tax when her party was in government.
Chaguanas east Member of Parliament, Vandana Mohit said Dr. Rowley’s war is targeting families, particularly those led by single women.
Ms. Mohit said the Food Card Program is becoming difficult to access and the reviews are throwing people out of the system.
