A man who was shot in the head by an intruder, wrestled the gun away from the shooter, scared him off, then drove himself to the hospital for medical treatment.

The 30-year-old victim of Fatman Lane, Prizgar Lands, Laventille, is listed in a stable condition at the Port of Spain.

Police say that at around 1.40p.m. the victim was at his home when a man armed with a firearm and wearing a stocking over his face entered the bedroom, pointed the gun and fired.

The homeowner said he felt a burning sensation to his head, but fought with the suspect and was able to disarm the man who ran away.

The injured man drove himself to the Port Of Spain General.

Officers of the Besson Street Criminal Investigations Department and Port of Spain Divisional Task Force visited the scene where they found a 9mm pistol, a magazine and 12 rounds of 9mm ammunition. PC Maslier is investigating the case.
