Lone survivor Christopher Boodram calls for justice

Christopher Boodram

Christopher Boodram says officials of Paria Fuel Trading Company Limited must be made to account for the deaths of his four colleagues.

Mr. Boodram was among the 5 divers attached to LMCS, contracted by State owned Paria Fuel Trading Company Limited to carry out repairs on the 30-inch pipeline.

Just over 2 weeks ago, Fyzal Kurban, Rishi Nagassar, Kazim Ali Jr. and Yusuf Henry died in the pipeline.

Speaking with Express reporter Anna Ramdass last Friday, Mr. Boodram said they were all pulled into the pipeline, unable to control the speed.

He said because of his position he was able to make his way to the top.

He couldn’t carry the others to safety but he made a promise to them that he could not keep.

All 4 divers have been laid to rest and Mr. Boodram, though injured attended the funerals where he told each of them he was sorry.

Sitting in the San Fernando Chambers of Anand Ramlogan Christopher Boodram is still amazed he was the only one to survive.

The government has established a commission of enquiry to examine the circumstances surrounding the February 25th incident.

Jamaican Jurist, Dennis Morrison, is chairing it.

The commission has 6 months to submit its report to the President of the Republic.
