Local government reps of the UNC worried about rainy season

The-Rainy-Season-and-UmbrellaThe rainy season is here and local government representatives of the United National Congress are worried.

At a news conference yesterday opposition corporations warned of disaster if government does not disburse much needed funding.

The representatives noted that the situation is worsening as the rainy season is now in effect.

Alderman at the Tunanpuna/Piarco Regional Corporation, Kevan Gibbs wants government too act fast.

Mayor of Chaguanas, Gopaul Boodhan described the situation as a crisis.

He believes the UNC led corporations are being disrespected by the government.

And his colleague, chairman of the Couva/Tabaquite/Talparo Regional Corporation, Henry Awong, said his 178,000 Burgesses are anxious about the onset of the rainy season.

Back in September, the same group accused the People’s National Movement government of deliberately starving UNC-led corporations of funding.
