IMMIGRATION OFFICER CHARGED…

An immigration officer is expected to appear in court today.

A statement from the police service says, the female officer was charged March 22nd, following the advice from director of public prosecutions, Mr. Roger Gaspard S.C.

According to police reports, fraud squad officers uncovered a forged passport and other documents, allegedly issued to a Venezuelan national.

The TTPS says, this passport bore immigration division, ministry of national security permanent resident status stamp endorsements.

However, upon thorough examination, it was discovered, that the minister of national security had not legitimately granted the permanent residency status.

The investigation continued as officers successfully collaborated with, a team from the immigration division.

The immigration officer was then arrested.

Snr. Supt. Arlet Groome and Insp. Tricia Smith supervised the investigation, while Sgt. Lochan conducted enquiries with the assistance of w/cpl Edwards, PC. Kernahan, and PC. Thomas of the fraud squad.

Investigations are continuing.
