Doctor apologises after using racist remarks towards former employee

An apology from Dr. Avinash Sawh, after he was heard using racist remarks and abusive language towards a now former employee.

Yesterday Dr. Sawh said he was sorry to the former worker and the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.

He admitted his remarks were unacceptable and derogatory.

Dr. Sawh issued the apologies during a media conference held at the Port of Spain office of his attorney Martin George yesterday.

In the last few days the recording was shared on social media and the doctor has faced severe criticisms.

There have been calls for his license to be revoked by the Medical Board.

Dr. Sawh said he understands why there is a backlash to what was shared on social media.

The apology came on the very day the Medical Board of Trinidad and Tobago was to hold a meeting on the issue.

However, Mr. George indicated there was no coincidence between that planned meeting and Dr. Sawh’s apology.
