University students say they fear for their safety after a ceiling comes crashing down at the St. Augustine Campus of UWI.
The students’ guild is now questioning the structural soundness of the facility.
Reports say the incident occurred just after 8am yesterday, as students settled down to class.
It is said the group was forced to run for cover as the ceiling suddenly came crashing down over them.
This morning guild secretary Nikoli Edwards told Newscenter 5 a decision must be taken regarding housing of students.
Mr. Edwards said the students remain traumatized following the incident. He said the Noor Hassanali Auditorium has since been sealed off.
