State owned Caribbean Airlines will no longer fly the London route.
The announcement was made via a media release this afternoon.
Speaking with Newscentre 5 shortly after the statement was issued, Corporate Communications Manager, Dionne Ligoure said after conducting a review of the network, CAL made a decision was made to withdraw the Boeing 767 from its operations and to discontinue flights to London Gatwick.
She said this will take effect from January 10, 2016.
According to Ms. Ligoure, the costs associated with maintaining the Boeing 767 aircraft operation has led Caribbean Airlines to the decision of simplifying its fleet.
She said, CAL would now focus its limited resources on building connectivity in the North American and Caribbean markets.
Ms. Ligoure said, customers who have already purchased tickets will be issued full refunds or assistance with finding alternative flight arrangements to and from London.
