300,000-dollar bail for the soldier who allegedly tried to export close to 2 kilograms of cocaine concealed in scented candles.
It is alleged that the drug was to be sent via DHL Courier Services Company.
26-year-old Colin Clarke and his 24-year-old girlfriend, Charline Giles went before Senior Magistrate Nanette Forde John yesterday.
Ms. Giles, who is from Savannah Terrace, Diego Martin, is charged with possession of the drug for the purpose of trafficking.
She too was granted 300,000 dollars bail.
They were both arrested at the DHL compound in El Socorro last Wednesday.
In addition to the charge of attempting to smuggle the drug, the soldier, who has been a member of the regiment for the past five years and was last attached to Gulf Company at Camp Ogden, was also charged with possession of 50 rounds of ammunition, as well as a small quantity of cocaine.
Those items were allegedly found at his Cunupia home last Wednesday after he and Ms. Giles were detained.
However, despite being granted the bail bond on the smuggling charge, he was denied bail on the other 2 charges.
Those matters are to be heard before a Chaguanas Magistrate today, where the issue of bail is expected to be addressed.
