Relatives of Melissa Tricia Emmanuel feel she may have known her killer.

The young woman was shot and killed during a robbery in a taxi along Wrightson Road in Port of Spain last Friday evening.

Police are still searching for the man who shot and killed her.

Ms. Emmanuel was from Wattley Circular, Mt Pleasant Road, Arima.

The young woman’s mother Ann Marie believes someone knew she had collected money and it was in the handbag taken away from her.

She left home on Friday saying she was going to collect the money at Movie Towne after visiting the hairdresser.

It is reported Ms. Emmanuel was the only person in the taxi who was robbed.

Her mother said she only learned of her daughter’s death after she visited several police stations in Port of Spain on Saturday morning

Ms. Emmanuel was a back seat passenger in the taxi when a male passenger, who had boarded moments earlier, announced a hold up on the corner of Gatacre Street and Wrightson Road.

The man robbed Ms. Emmanuel of her handbag before shooting her once in her head.

She was taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital by another taxi that was driving in the area. She died while receiving treatment.
