The Port of Spain City Corporation and the Chaguanas Borough Corporation mount sustained responses to the Zika virus.
On Monday the Ministry of Health put the total number of Zika cases in the country at 254.
It noted that the counties of St. George and Caroni were most affected.
Yesterday Port of Spain Mayor Keron Valentine said his corporation was taking no chances with the Aedes Egypti mosquito.
Mayor Valentine said Insect Vector Control is leading the fight against Zika with spraying, and clearing of empty lots, gutterings and drains.
And Chaguanas Mayor Gopaul Boodan is taking similar action, with an aggressive approach.
Mayor Mr. Boodan said overgrown lots remain a major challenge.
The Ministry of Health assures it would continue its efforts to monitor and manage the outbreak of Zika and other mosquito borne diseases.
However the Ministry is also urging members of the public to do their part.
