The investigations into the deaths of a mother and her child are ongoing, although police believe it is a case of murder suicide.

Autopsies are expected to be performed on the bodies of Anika Gabriel and her three and a half month old daughter Sydney

Their decomposing bodies were found at their South Oropuche home yesterday morning.

Reports say the child’s father Wayne Phillander made the gruesome discovery, at around 9 o’clock at Ralph Narine Trace.

Mr Phillander, told police he went to Miz Gabriel’s house to carry a supply of milk for baby Sydney when he got a foul stench. He said he later discovered the bodies and contacted police

When officers arrived at the scene they had to break down the door to the home to get access to the bodies.

Investigators say the bodies were in an advance stage of decomposition.
