The Prison Authorities are vowing to thoroughly investigate the death of murder accused Peter Hyde. Mr. Hyde was found hanging in a cell at the Maximum Security Prison in Arouca on Sunday morning.
The 44-year-old Mr. Hyde was accused of quadruple murder and wounding eight others, including his brothers. Police say Mr. Hyde was being treated for schizophrenia and had reportedly asked fellow inmates about various ways to kill himself. He was last seen alive on Saturday evening.
He was found with a piece of rope around his neck. Police say there were no signs of foul play but an autopsy is to be performed on his body today. Deputy Commissioner of Prison Operations Dane Clarke says a thorough probe will be launched. He called the incident unfortunate.
