Fixin’ T&T supports the call for an independent investigation into the allocation of HDC houses to media personnel with a view to determine if there was any unethical conduct, unfair advantage or influence peddling.
Via media release the group says it is of the firm view that this probe should be extended to any and all persons in receipt of housing based on the recommendation of government ministers or HDC officials from the inception of the HDC.
It says while there is a policy for qualifying for an HDC house, once qualified, there is nothing governing the management of the queue or Home Application Fulfillment System (HAFF) whose database, we understand, is housed and managed at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.
Thus the reason that someone officially qualified ten minutes ago can receive keys to their new home ahead of persons that qualified ten years ago. It adds the system is fundamentally flawed and facilitates nepotism and all forms of corruption at every level.
