Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley says the display in the parliament by the Opposition was disgraceful.
There were hours of contention in the parliament yesterday as the Opposition sought to pass a motion, which could have led to the removal of the country’s President Paula Mae Weekes.
The motion failed.
The vote occurred in the midst of a rowdy meeting of the Electoral College.
The government representatives remained quiet through it all, but the Opposition slammed the process and the Speaker Of the House.
After the vote Dr. Rowley said the behavior of the Opposition was shameful.
Dr. Rowley said MPs were disrespectful and attempted to provoke House Speaker Brigid Annisette George.
He said with their behavior it was clear the Opposition representatives were hoping to be ejected from the House.
But he said Mrs. Annisette George handled the situation well.
Dr. Rowley also took the members of the Opposition to task for seeking to tarnish one Independent Senator.
