The vagrancy problem in Port of Spain is being called chronic.
President of the Downtown Owners and Merchants Association Gregory Aboud says talks have taken place with the Ministry of Social Development to treat with the issue.
He too was part of the launch yesterday.
Mr. Aboud said the plan forces the street dwellers into a prepared facility.
Meanwhile, Planning Minister Camille Robinson Regis noted that the government has no intention of incarcerating the homeless.
However she said a move-along plan would be in effect.
And Port of Spain Mayor Joel Martinez spoke of a much needed “Walk of Fame” to honour local cultural icons in east Port of Spain.
Meanwhile Director of Newel Lewis Broadbridge Associates, an Architectural Company, Ravi Ramkalawan said the new city will be named after the cultural difference that makes Trinidad and Tobago what it is.
Mr. Ramkalawan also revealed the creation of a green park at the foreshore in Cocorite.
He said the area currently consists of 50 acres and the state is looking to acquire an addition of 100 acres for the project.
