Police now have in custody 5 people in connection with the kidnapping of 9-month-old baby Sophia Rivas.
Sophia was taken from her Longdenville, Chaguanas home on Tuesday morning.
Hours later the baby was found at a house in Curepe.
Among those detained was a 19-year-old woman.
The child and her parents are Venezuelan nationals.
Sophia’s mother Valentina Hernandez said she received a call from someone demanding $20,000TT for the safe return of the baby.
Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police Jayson Forde said yesterday officers worked feverishly to find the child.
He told TV6’s Morning Edition program that the child appeared to be physically well when she was rescued.
DCP Forde was certain that charges would be laid.
The 19-year-old female suspect is from California, central Trinidad.
