A word of caution from Independent Senator Paul Richards to parliamentarians and the media.

He says both must account for their negative impact on the behaviour of young children.

In his maiden presentation in the Upper House yesterday Senator Richards told of his experience at a mall recently.

He said it showed children practice what they see and hear.

Senator Richards questioned the impact of the violence carried in the news.

Mr. Richards said ironically young people are the ones deemed the lost generation when they learn their behavior from those who came before them.
