Opposition Member of Parliament for St. Augustine Prakash Ramadhar is calling for the immediate removal of certain sections of the Bill currently before the House.
Mr. Ramadhar says the clauses of concern seal the past convictions of a criminal before the courts.
He describes them as the most dangerous part of the plea discussion Bill currently being debated in the Lower House.
However, Laventille West MP Fitzgerald Hinds refutes Mr. Ramadhar’s claim calling it inaccurate.
Mr. Hinds admits the piece of legislation does address sealing matters, but not as described by the St. Augustine MP.
Both men were contributing yesterday to the Criminal Procedure Plea discussion and Plea Agreement Bill, 2017.
