PM believes DNA lab can assist in fight against crime

Unknown-12Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley believes a DNA lab would assist in the fight against crime.

He says while in Jamaica he saw the impact of the DNA lab at the University of the West Indies Mona Campus.

He says government will be considering the establishment of such a facility as a crime fighting initiative.

He said talks were also held surrounding the adoption of the Caribbean Court of Justice as the region’s final appellate court.

The Prime Minister said while Jamaicans remained divided on the issue, Trinidad and Tobago indicated its willingness to adopt the CCJ.

Prime Minister Rowley said other matters of national security were also discussed with commitments from both countries being met to share information in the interest of safety and security in the region.

A joint communiqué was signed by the leaders of the two countries affirming their commitment to matters discussed during the visit.

Prime Minister Rowley returned to this country yesterday after a four-day trip to Jamaica on invitation of that country’s Prime Minister Andrew Holness.
