The autopsy on the skeletal remains found in the backyard of, a Valsayn house reveals that the victim died from wounds to the head.
An Express report quotes senior officers of the homicide bureau as saying, the post mortem done on Wednesday, revealed holes in the skull, consistent with that of gunshot injuries.
However, it was noted that no spent shells were found at the site where the skeletal remains were found.
According to the express report, the matter was complicated and further testing was needed, as the femur or thighbones of the skeletal remains, were about 20 centimeters in length.
This is consistent with an adult between the ages of 20 and 25.
Previously, investigators had been told the body was that of 18-year-old Hannah Mathura.
While investigators still believe the remains to be that of the teenager, given this new information, DNA testing has been ordered to confirm if the remains are indeed those of Miss Mathura.
Officers of the north central division held the suspect in this matter around 9 p.m. on Wednesday.
Police received intelligence, which led them to the home.
He was found bareback and wearing a pair of short pants, and surrendered without incident.
Minutes later, police returned to the man’s home on Butu Street in south Valsayn, where they detained the suspect’s wife.
