A high speed chase involving police and suspected bandits ends when the suspects vehicle crashes into a median and bursts into flames. The incident reportedly occurred during the early hours of yesterday morning in Trincity.
Newscenter 5 understands police received reports of early morning robberies in the Arouca and Tunapuna districts. The victims told police they were robbed at gunpoint by 3 occupants of a vehicle, 2 men and a woman. An all points bulletin was sent out.
We are told officers on patrol along the churchill roosevelt highway spotted the vehicle with the suspects and signalled the driver to stop. However, he is said to have refused. A chase then ensued.
It is said upon reaching the Trincity intersection the suspects vehicle crashed into the median and burst into flames. Fire officers were called to the scene and the fire was extinguished. The trio was arrested and taken to the Arouca Police Station where they are expected to be charged with several offenses. Police say two firearms which were thrown out of the vehicle before it crashed were recovered.
