The Housing Development Corporation responds to a newspaper report that it spent over three million dollars on a Christmas party for staff last year, saying it is not true. The HDC says the Christmas party cost a total of $892,589.32 and the event was not held at the Hyatt but on the waterfront.
The company says it paid UDECOTT $1,800.00 for the use of the venue. It says the event was catered for one thousand 110 employees and their spouses. The HDC’s attempt to clarify its spending on the Christmas party follows an article in yesterday’s Guardian newspaper which quotes sources as saying the party was extravagant and costly. The story told of the HDC also using fireworks as part of its celebrations last year. This too has been denied by the HDC.
