Foreign used car dealers beleives the new policy on the importation of used vehicles could see hundreds of workers on the breadline. The group is now calling for a meeting with the Prime Minister and Minister of Trade.
Yesterday President of the Used Car Dealers Association Visham Babwah called the new measure draconian. He said Trade Minister Paula Gopee-Scoon had no consultation before implementing the changes.
In a similar tone Vice President of the association Rondell Feeles says this new policy, announced last week, will see hundreds of workers on the breadline. On the Morning Show on i95.5fm yesterday, Mr. Feeles said based on the position of the Minister, dealers are being unnecessarily blamed for congestion and environmental degradation. Mr. Feeles said the Minister has it wrong and could be shooting herself in the foot by this new policy.
