There are fears that the Hand, Foot and Mouth disease outbreak in Jamaica could reach this country…
And former Health Minister Dr Fuad Khan wants to know what government is doing to prevent it.
The disease can be transferred from person to person through skin contact, sneezing, coughing or exchange of saliva.
Dr Khan says it is possible that the disease can easily enter the shores of Trinidad and Tobago
He says the Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh must say what type of screening, if any, will be conducted at the ports of entry, given the free movement of CARICOM residents.
The now Opposition MP wants the government to put a strategy in place to restrict the virus from entering the country.
