The man charged with brutally beating a woman at a bar in Arouca, has been given a private cell.
Last week, video footage emerged of Ricardo Jerome beating a kicking the woman said to be the mother of his 9 year old son.
Yesterday his attorney, Fareed Ali, wrote to Prison Commissioner Sterling Stewart, requesting that his client be kept away from the general prison population, in light of the charges proffered against him.
Today Mr Ali says, his client has been given separate airings, meaning that he has no physical contact with other prisoners.
The attorney says he is heartened by the steps taken by the prison authority, to ensure that he is isolated from the other prisoners.
Mr Jerome was arrested and charged after a viral video, which was posted on social media showed him repeatedly kicking a woman and beating her with what appeared to be a metal bar.
He subsequently surrendered to Arouca police and was later charged.
