Gary Layne is found hanging in a cell at the Arouca Police Station.

Reports say the discovery was made in the holding bay of the station around 3:40 pm on Sunday afternoon.

Police say Mr. Layne was waiting to be interviewed by investigators relative to conspiracy to murder, and gang related offences.

Officers say Mr. Layne was discovered hanging from the front vent bars in the vicinity of the toilet by a long blue colored jeans.

Mr. Layne was untied and taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex where attempts to resuscitate him failed.

He was later pronounced dead at the scene.
