Police are being accused of using too much force in its reported run in with Rasheed Alexander.
Twenty year old Mr. Alexander was shot and killed by police during a reported chase yesterday.
They say he fired shots at them. But Mr. Alexander’s relatives are skeptical. They want an investigation into the incident.
Officers say they were on mobile patrol when they say a group of men standing outside Mr. Alexander’s home. They say as they approached the men Mr. Alexander ran off and they called on him to stop
Police say they gave chase and again called on the man to stop when he is said to have pulled out a gun a fire at them. The officer are then said to have acted with equal force, hitting Mr. Alexander several times about the body.
He was taken to the Chaguanas Health Facility where he died.
Mr. Alexander’s father Donny Alexander says based on information he received the police officers may not be telling everything. He says he was told his son had a gun but it had no bullets and was not pulled on the police officers.
