The police high command in Jamaica says it remains resolute in winning the fight against criminals, to reduce crimes across the country.
Police commissioner, Dr. Carl Williams says it is no secret that Jamaica is confronted with serious challenges in relation to the number of crimes recorded so far this year when compared to the corresponding period last year.
At the end of October, the police reported one thousand and 38 murders
Dr. Williams reiterates that the lottery scam and gang related disputes are responsible for the spike in the number of homicides being experienced, especially in St. James and other western parishes.
Speaking at an awards banquet of the St. James chapter of the lay magistrate association of Jamaica over the weekend dr. Williams spoke to the ease at which criminals in St. James have access to illegal guns.
Dr. Williams is calling on every law abiding citizen to realize that the time has come for them to play their role in the fight against crime, and he urges greater involvement to resist and reject criminal activities.
