Education Minister Anthony Garcia

The Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teachers Association says yes to expulsion for students who display criminal behaviour at school.

President Lindsley Doodhai was responding to the Education Minister’s plan to send home a male student who assaulted a teacher.

Speaking with Newscenter 5 just moments ago Mr. Doodhai said school is no place for those young people.

The TTUTA president also expressed concern for what will become of such juveniles when they are no longer in the school system.

He suggested that the courts decide their fate.

Yesterday Education Minister Anthony Garcia told Newscenter 5 he is awaiting a full report on the incident.

The Minister said that type of behaviour cannot be condoned and a message has to be sent.

And the National Primary Schools Principals’ Association stands in support of the Education Minister.
